About Havarí
Havarí will be making yet another U-turn soon, opening on May 2nd in Faxafen 12. The goal is to be an exciting platform for art, design, events, workshops, and just about anything! Havarí also has the role of preserving the legacy of Prins Póló and keeping his memory alive.
Here's a brief overview of Havarí's history:
Havarí in Austurstræti 2009-2011
Havarí was founded in 2009 by the couple Berglind and Svavar, the band Hjálmar, Guðmundur Kristinn Jónsson, María Rut Reynisdóttir, and the now-defunct streaming service Gogo Yoko. We got temporary premises in Austurstræti with the goal of having fun and creating a platform for music and visual arts. All sorts of culture-related projects were conjured up by the grassroots of that time. And wow, it was fun!
Here are some very poor phone pictures that still manage to capture a glimpse of the unparalleled atmosphere that often prevailed in Austurstræti.

When the group lost the space in 2011, the couple Berglind and Svavar kept the name, which then became an umbrella term for all the numerous projects and adventures they undertook.
Havarí in Berufjörður 2014-2021
Berglind and Svavar moved to a farm in Berufjörður in 2014. The farm was in great disrepair, and they renovated it. They obtained organic certification for the land and grew vegetables and experimented with snack production. They also ran a hostel, a café, and a concert venue, and alongside this, there was music, posters, "Bulsurnar" (a local term, possibly a product or project name), and much more.

Open workshop.
Havarí in Álfheimar 2023-2025
Here, the legacy of Prins Póló was maintained, and numerous events and art exhibitions were also held.
Havarí in Faxafen 10, 2025-2026
While we were searching for the perfect space to create our dream platform, everything was stripped down to just 15 (presumably a smaller space or a more focused endeavor) where we primarily focused on the legacy of Prins Póló.
Havarí has thus always been an umbrella term for diverse projects, sometimes many, and sometimes few.
