The Memorial Fund made its second allocation on May 8, 2025. Egill Logi Jónasson, who goes by the artist name Drengurinn Fengurinn, received a one million Icelandic króna grant to work on the project Dreamboy Syndicate.
Dreamboy Syndicate encompasses all of Egill Logi's artistic creations. He lives and works in Akureyri. Egill is a very prolific artist who practices both visual arts and music and has released numerous albums. The project also includes printmaking, music publishing, concert organizing, a recording studio, Nordic collaboration, and more.
Egill describes his creative process as follows: "I find it important to let the works speak for themselves, and so I am very much about letting things happen. I do this to get ahead of self-doubt. What characterizes my art and music is perhaps that I don't necessarily work on pieces until I consider them perfect. I have tried that, but then one often gets stuck in insecurity and perhaps doesn't produce anything. I believe there is a growing desire for human and raw works in times of artificial intelligence and perfection. Computers are perfect, people are flawed, and that is beautiful."
We extend our sincere congratulations to Egill Logi!

Ægir Sindri Bjarnason, musician, received the first grant from Svavar Pétur Eysteinsson's Memorial Fund on April 26, 2024, receiving a grant of 1,000,000 ISK.

Ægir Sindri applied for a grant for events at the concert venue R6013 on Ingólfsstræti, which he has operated for several years and where he has held numerous concerts. The board of the SPE Memorial Fund stated in its justification: The project is pioneering work driven by great momentum, vision, and a clear outlook. It supports a number of artists and the grassroots of musical activity. The project is also well-defined and has clear goals. The board of Svavar Pétur Eysteinsson's Memorial Fund proudly supports the project as it is in the spirit of Svavar Pétur to bring together musicians through concerts that are open to all musical genres and generations.
